Overview

Last year over 660 runners signed up for this event that has become a staple on the weekend before Halloween.  Paul Springer led all finishers in 15:46, while Kimberlie Meeker won the female title in 17:30 – a new course record for the women.  The men’s course record is held by Joe Moore (14:50) which he set in 2011.  Kimberlie Meeker set the women’s course mark of 17:30 in 2013.

The race and the other activities, which is sponsored by Capital RunWalk in Cameron Village, will be held near the intersection of Woodburn Rd and Clark Ave.  The 100-yard Monster Dash will start at 1:45 pm followed by the mile at 2 pm and the 5K at 2:30 pm.  All of the races start and finish on Woodburn Road.

This year a new course has been laid out. Click here to download a course map.

Once again, the 5k race is also one of the events in the 2015 Second Empire Grand Prix.

The entry fees for the mile for which no official times will be recorded are $20 until September 1, $25 from September 2 -October 22, and $30 thereafter, up to and including race day.  For those ages 12 and under the fees are $5 less.

Participants in the 5K can either register as a “competitive” or a “recreational” participant. The competitive runners will be issued timing chips, will receive official times, will be get Grand Prix points, and be eligible for awards. The recreational runner/walker will not receive an official time but will be able to see his/her finishing time in a digital clock at the finish line.

The fees for the 5K are the same for both the competitive and recreational entrants - $30 until September 1, $35 from September 2-October 22, and $40 thereafter, up to and including race day.  For those ages 12 and younger, the fees are each $10 less.  After that date, it will be "as available."

In the 5K will be presented to the top three male and female finishers overall and also to the top three finishers in each of the following age groups (both male and female): 12-under, 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80-over.
