Overview

After debuting in 2019, this 5K event took a two-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic, although they did hold a virtual event in 2020. In that first year, over 100 signed up for the race. John Autry led all finishers in 18:40 while Emily Myers was the fastest female in the field finishing in 24:18.

The event is held in support of Embrace Uganda 5K.  To learn more about what this organization does to assist Ugandan Communities by providing healthcare to orphans and vulnerable children among many other services, visit their web site at https://embraceuganda.org/

Race headquarters is at the Town Hall in Wake Forest  loacted at 301 Brooks Street. Click here to download a course map.

Participants have the option of entering as a timed or untimed entrant. Here are the differences. The timed entrant will be issued a timing chip, will receive an official finish time, and will be eligible for awards. The untimed entrant is someone who does not care about his/her time or being eligible for age group awards. However, all participants will be able to see their finishing time on a digital clock at the finish line.

The fees are the same for each category - $28 for ages 13 and older and $15 for ages 12 and under.  After May 22, the fees are $30 and $20, respectively.

The entry fee includes a t-shirt to all those paid registrations by May 26.  After that, it will be “as available.”

Awards will go to the first three males overall, the first three females overall and to the top finishers in each of the following age groups (both sexes): 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-over.
