When last held in 2018, sixty-seven signed up for this event, the majority of which were students or members of the faculty at Louisburg High School. Felipe Rodriquez led the field to the finish in 19:38. Jimmy Vokel holds the course record of 16:12 which he set in 2015.
Lucille Ketterer won the women’s competition in 19 minutes flat, breaking her own course record by 33 seconds which she set in 2017.
The event begins and ends at Louisburg High School located at 201 Allen Lane in Louisburg. The featured 5K begins at 9 am, while the Fun Run for kids ages 11 and younger starts at 10 am.
Registrants in the 5K can register either as a competitive or recreational entry. Competitive entrants will receive an official time and be eligible for awards. Recreational entrants will not receive an official time, but they will be able to see their finishing times on a digital clock at the finish line.
There will be no official times taken in the Fun Run, but all participants can see their final times on a digital clock at the finish.
The entry fee for the 5K is $35 The fee for all Franklin County students is only $25. If one registers as part of a group of 5 or more persons, each member of that group pays a $25 entry fee also. The fee for the Fun Run is $15.
The fees for both the 5K and the Fun Run include a t-shirt to all those registered by April 10.
In the 5K awards will be given to the top male finisher, to the top top female finisher, and to the top two finishers in each of the following age groups (both sexes): 14-under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over. One must enter as a competitive runner to be eligible for one of the awards.
