In its second year in 2016, over 100 runners turned out for this event. Jose Mora was the only runner to break 18 minutes on the flat out-and-back course, finishing in a course-record 17:17. Tracy Proctor was top woman with a 21:56 effort – a new course record for the women.
The course will start near the entrance to the Multi-Purpose Building and go south on Capps Farm Road to the turn around. Coming back there is only a slight rise before it levels off in sight of the finish line.
Entrants in the 5K have a choice of entering as a competitive or recreational runner. Competitive entrants will receive an official time and be eligible for awards. Recreational entrants will not receive official times, but can either time themselves or see their times on the digital clock at the finish line.
Entry fees for the 5K are the same for both the competitive and recreational entrant - $25 on or before April 1st and $30 thereafter, up to and including race day.
The entry fees include a t-shirt – sizes guaranteed to all those registered by April 1st.
There will be awards for the first male overall, to the first female overall and to the top three finishers in each of the following age groups (both sexes): 11-under, 12-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
