Overview

The North Carolina Section of the American Water Works Association & the North Carolina Member Association of the Water Environment Federation is hosting a 5K Run on April 29, 2017 at the American Tobacco Trail in Apex, NC (1305 White Oak Church Road Apex, NC 27523). 

All net proceeds will be donated to Water For People, a non-profit organization with a mission to bring safe drinking water and adequate sanitation to everyone.  For more information about Water for People, please visit http://www.waterforpeople.org/

In its third year in 2016 ,John Maness led all finisher with a 18:32. Sarah Nash was the top female finishing in 20:40.  Both were new event records.

The race will begin at 9 am. 

Entrants will be able to choose between being a timed runner or not being timed.  The entry fees are the same for each - $30, increasing to $35 after March 31 up to and including race day.  The entry fee includes a t-shirt to all those registered by March 31st.  After that date, registrants will need to pay $5 for a shirt "if available.”

Awards will be given to the top first male and female finishers in each of the following age groups:  12-under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-over, and to the top first and second overall male and female finishers.

​There also will be a postrace drawing for prizes for which all participants are eligible.

Packet pick-up will be available for all pre-registered runners on Friday, April 28th from 5-7pm at Omega Sports, Crossroads (314 Crossroads Blvd, Cary, NC 27518).  All those stopping by Omega Sports on Friday to register or pickup their race packets will receive a 20% discount from Omega Sports, although some brand exclusions will apply.  Late registration will be available on-site on the morning of the race.
