The Twister Trot, formerly Marcie’s Run, is held to honor the courage and strength of the community. Marcie Speer was a dedicated mom and scientist in the Durham Community who lost her battle with cancer in 2006.

The 5K will begin at 9 am while the mile fun run will start at 9:05.

In the 5K, awards will be given to the top male overall, to the top female overall, and to the top finishers in each of the following age groups: 9-under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70-over.

A portion of the proceeds will be given to support the Be The Match bone marrow registry. A representative from Be The Match will b at he event to swab cheeks and help any individual to register to be a bone marrow donor.
