This is the 28^th annual edition of this race. Each year the starting line for the 5K resembles the start of a high school cross-country race as local runners test their fitness before their season begins.

Last year over 300 runners entered the event. Jackson Cathey was the overall winner in 17:38. Joanna Strange won the female title in 22:21. The course records are held by Jeff Martin (15:24) and Jennifer Sallez (18:39).

The race starts and finishes at the Newton Recreation Department located at 23 South Brady Avenue in Newton.
