Overview

Two years ago while visiting in Raleigh, two-year-old Ryder Wells was attacked by dogs.  He suffered massive trauma to his face as well as other life threatening injuries.  His recovery would be nothing short of a miracle, but his strength to survive was stronger than anything else in the world.

So far Ryder has undergone 42 surgeries between UNC and Duke Hospitals.  His medical team works diligently to reconstruct his facial bones, muscle and skin to regain function of his beautiful face.  He is so full of love and energy just like every other 4-year-old.  He will continue to have multiple surgeries for years to come to correct his beautiful face.

The Cleveland community has banned together to support Ryder and his family raise money to pay his medical expenses.  This race is one of those efforts.

The race will start and finish at the Fire Station located at 9039 Cleveland Road in Clayton at 8 am.  Late entrants can register and pre-registered entrants can pick up their packets beginning at 6:30 am on race day.

Entrants have a choice of entering as either a timed or non-timed entrants.  Here is the difference. Timed entrants will receive a bib with a timing chip attached, will be listed in the race results and will be eligible for the overall awards and age group awards.  Untimed entrants will not be eligible for awards and will not ge an official finish time.  However, all finishers will be able to see their finish time on a digital clock at the finish line.

The entry fee is $30, up to and including November 4 and increasing to $35 on November 5.  The fee on race day will be $40.  The entry fee includes a goody bag and t-shirt. T-shirts are guaranteed to all those entered by November 4.  After that date, it will be “as available.”

Awards will be given to the top  male finisher overall, to the top female finisher overall and to the top three finishers in the following age divisions (both sexes): 18-under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70-over.

There will also be other attractions at the event including a live band, DJ, bounce houses, vendor booths, etc.
