This is a new event for the Triangle area which is being put on by the Morrisville Police Department to benefit Special Olympics. The course which will be used is one of the flattest USAT&F-certified routes in the area – the same course used by the Run for Heart in July and the Jack ‘n Jill 5K race in September. To go to the start/finish area, plug in 1050 Town Hall Drive on your GPS. The 5K race starts at 8 am, while Kid’s Fun Run begins at 9 am, The entry fees for the 5K are $20 if received by September 15, $25 September 15-October 4, and $30 on race day. The fee for the Kid’s Run is $10 with no late fee. The fee includes a commemorative cup. Registrants in the 5K can register either as a competitive or recreational entry. Competitive entrants will be issued a chip, will receive an official time, and be eligible for awards. Recreational entrants will not receive an official time, but they will be able to see their finishing times on a digital clock at the finish line. In the 5K, awards will be given to the first three men overall, to the first three women overall, and to the top two finishers in each of the following age groups (both sexes): 12-under, 13-17, 18-25, 26-40 and 41-over. In the Fun Run, all kids will receive a medal. Late entrants can register and pre-registered entrants can pick up their packets either on Friday, October 4 at Omega Sports located at 3025 Market Center Drive in Morrisville between 5-7 pm or on race day at the race site beginning at 6:45 am.
