This will be the 6th Annual Run For Our Heroes road race. The course was revised and recertified in 2013 and is a flat and fast course that winds its’ way through downtown scenic Raleigh.

A record field of over 1600 runners and walkers registered for this event in 2013. Paul Springer took top honors in 15:42. Allison Camp was the fastest female with a 18:29 clocking. Since this was a new course, both performances are course records.
This race is part of the Spring Second Empire Grand Prix Series.
There will be 1 water station on the course. BIB timing will be used to guarantee accurate results.
This race will offer each entrant in the 5K a choice of being a competitive or recreational entrant. Here is the difference: Competitive entrants are those who wish to be eligible for awards or just want to receive an official time. Recreational entrants are those who don’t care about being eligible for awards and do not want an official time. However, there will be a digital clock at the finish line where each entrant can see their finish time.
Regardless of whether one is entering the competitive or recreational division, the entry fees are all the same: $25 NLT April 1, 2014, $30 from April 2-25 and $35 on race day. For groups of 20 or more, please contact the race director for possible discount information-(runforourheroes@aol.com).
The entry fee includes a t-shirt – guaranteed to all those registered NLT midnight on April 11th. After that date it will be on a “first-served” basis.
In the 5K race, awards will be presented to the first, second, and third place overall male and female finishers and to the first three male and female finishers in each of the following age groups: 12-under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and over. In addition, awards will be presented to the top three male and female Law Enforcement Officer finishers.
The McGruff Crime Dog Kids’ Dash will start at 10 a.m. for children ages 10 and under. The entry fee for this 100 yard dash is $5 (no late fee). The fee for the Kids’ Dash does not include a t-shirt. All participants in the McGruff Kids’ Dash will receive a gift pack.
Late entrants can register and pre-registered runners can pick up their packets at the Capital RunWalk in Cameron Village on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 5pm-7pm or Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 5pm-7pm or at the race site under the rotunda at City Hall on race day beginning at 7:30am.
