The Monster Dash is a Halloween themed family festival. The day features a 5K competitive race, 1 Mile fun run and 100 yard Monster Dash for the little ones. Kids Zone is provided courtesy of the Alexander Family YMCA. We'll also have a costume contest for adults, children and teams (this is a family event so please use good taste). As always, a special appearance by Ronald McDonald.
Last year over 700 runners signed up for this event that has become a staple on the weekend before Halloween. Sandy Roberts led all finishers in 15:26, while Kimberlie Meeker won the female title in 17:30 – a new course record for the women. The men’s course record is held by Joe Moore (14:50) which he set in 2011.
The race and the other activities, which is sponsored by Capital RunWalk in Cameron Village, will be held near the intersection of Woodburn Rd and Clark Ave.
The 100-yard Monster Dash will start at 1:45 pm at the intersection of Clark Avenue and Daniels Street followed by the mile at 2 pm and the 5K at 2:30 pm. Both the mile and the 5K will start near the intersection of Woodburn Road and Clark Ave.
