This is a new event for the area to be held at WakeMed Soccer Park starting at 9 am.
The race is being put on by Harbor Reins, a nonprofit organization offering mental health treatment to veterans, military, and their families. They have the unique ability to combine traditional mental health treatment with
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. Yes! Therapy with horses!
Entrants have a choice of entering as either a competitive or recreational entrant. Here is the difference. The competitive entrant will receive an official time and be eligible for awards. The recreational entrant will not receive an official time nor be eligible for awards but will be able to see his finish time on a digital clock at the finish.
The entry fee is $25 up to and including October 16. After that date it is $30 until the 22
nd, and $35 on race day. The fee includes a shirt – guaranteed to all those registered by October 16, After that, it will be “as available.”
In the 5K awwrds will be given to the first three men overall, to the first three women overall and the first-place finisher in each of the following age groups: (both sexes) 12-under, 13, 18, 18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70-over.
