Glenaire Retirement Community is proud to present the fifth annual Glenaire 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run on Saturday, March 27, 2021. The race usually starts and finishes at the Community located at 5000 Glenhope Court in Cary. This year’s race will again be virtual and that’s reflected in the reduced entrance fees. Hopefully, we can all get back together next year! As a virtual race, there will be no overall awards and age group prizes.
Most race entries include a swag bag, a coupon for a free Papa Murphy’s pizza and our very popular t-shirt.
This virtual race provides you an opportunity to run this course or any other 5K course from March 21– 27, 2021. Once you have completed your course you can upload your time into RaceReach. Please note that the residents and staff will be on the course Saturday, March 27th, from 8:00am – 10:30am. We ask that you refrain from running the course during that time only. You are welcome to stand along the course and cheer them on, but we are still under limited visitor restrictions on campus.
This event was conducted as a virtual event last year. When last run in 2019, there were 370 entrants. Omar Wiggan led all finishers with a 17:13 clocking, while Bona Bame led the women with a 20:13 performance. Wiggan holds the course record of 16:58 set in 2017. Kylie Feldman holds the women’s mark of 18:44, also set in 2017.
The race will benefit the Presbyterian Homes Foundation, Inc., whose mission is to provide senior adults with caring and high quality services in support of their physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual well-being.
