This is a new event for Eastern North Carolina, put on by the Signa Nu fraternity of East Carolina University.   Profits from the event will benefit The Children's Oncology Group.

Childhood Cancer is the leading cause of death for children between the ages of 4 and 14 in the United States. In partnership with The Children's Oncology Group (COG), the world's largest organization devoted to childhood and adolescent cancer research, Fight Cancer 5k is dedicated to raising awareness and funding clinical trials that will impact pediatric patients and their families in Greenville, North Carolina.

The event consists of two races – a 1-mile event starting at 9 am and a 5K beginning at 9:30 am.  The races will both start at Town Common Park in Greenville located at 105 East First Street.

Registrants in the 5K can register either as a competitive or recreational entry. Competitive entrants will receive an official time and be eligible for awards. Recreational entrants will not receive an official time, but they will be able to see their finishing times on a digital clock at the finish line.

The entry fee for the 5K, which includes a t-shirt, is $45.  To guarantee the correct size, one must be registered by November 25.  The fee for the one-mile run does not include a shirt.

Awards will be given to the first three finishers in the 5K.
