Last year over 160 runners and walkers registered for this event. Michael Lee led the way with a 20:06 clocking. Haley Beann was the fastest female finishing with a time of 20:07 – a new event record for the women. Dalton Cox holds the course record of 17:19 set in 2013.
The race is managed by the Harnett Animal Welfare Coalition (HAWC). The HAWC is a non-profit organization formed to build a community partnership for the benefit of the County’s animals.
The races start and finish at the Harnett County Courthouse located at 301 West Cornelius Harnett Boulevard in downtown Lillington.

The event features a timed 5K beginning at 8:30 am followed by a 1-mile dog walk starting at 10:00 am.
The entry fee for either distance is $25, increasing to $30 after April May 7
th.. The entry fee includes a t-shirt and a goody bag.
In the 5K, awards will be given to the top three males overall, to the top three females overall, and to the top three finishers in each of the following age groups: (both sexes) 19-under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-over,
