Running with one’s dog is generally discouraged in area races, but this is one event where it is encouraged.
Last year 63 runners registered for the 5K cross-county run while others did the 2-mile dog walk. Anthony Corriveau led all finishers in 19:53. Annie Chavent led the women in 24:00.
The start/finish area is at the NC State Faculty Club located at 4200 Hillsborough Street just west of the Beltline.
The 5K starts at 11 am while the Dog Walk begins at 12:30 pm. Dogs can also participate in the 5K.
The entry fees are $20.00 for the 5K and $10 for the 2-Mile Dog Walk. After 3/25, both fees increase by $5. Late entrants can register and pre-registered entrants can pick up their packets beginning at 9:00 am on race day. The entry fee includes a water bottle to all pre-registered entrants.
In the 5K run the first male overall, the first female overall and the top male and female under 18 will each receive awards. All registrants will receive a water bottle – guaranteed to those pre-registered..
