Overview

The Durham Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in partnership with the Knights of Columbus and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 175 is proud to announce the second annual VA Bull City Run, Walk & Roll 5K to be held on Saturday, May 6th, 2017.  We will be inviting our community to celebrate Veterans, their families and loved ones through a healthy, fun-filled, family- friendly event.

This event will begin and end at the Durham VA Medical Center located at 508 Fulton Street in Durham. The route is accessible to run, walk or roll and will take participants through the beautiful Watts Hospital-Hillandale area near the VA campus and is open to participants of all skill levels.  There will be race support personnel along the route to assist with any equipment or grade challenges.

The entry fee for the VA Kids Yankee Doodle Dash is $10. For the 5K, the fee is $25, if registered on or before April 7th, and $30 thereafter, up to and including race day.

Entry fee for ALL Veterans is $15 regardless of date of registration. Shirts are guaranteed to all those registering NLT April 6th

In the 5K, awards will be given to the top three male and top three female runners/walker and top three male and top three female rollers, and to the top three finishers in each of the following age groups - (both sexes) 14-under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70-over.

The proceeds from this year’s VA Bull City Run, Walk & Roll 5K will help to support scholarships for  Veterans served by the Durham VA Health Care System to attend National Veterans Rehab Events www.va.gov/adaptivesports.  For many of our Veterans, recovering from a serious illness or injury is one of the hardest things they will ever face. The Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) offers adaptive sports, art therapy and recreation programs to help Veterans re-define their capabilities, establish rehabilitative goals, and discover their true potential in a therapeutic environment. Through each step Veterans find increased confidence, self-esteem, independence and a higher quality of life. Your support will help our Veterans reach their goals
