In 2013 this event had a field of about 400 entrants. Brett Howell won the 5K race in 16:50. Elaine Laurie won the women’s competition 18:47. Joe Moore holds the men’s course record of 15:02 set in 2011 while Lorraine Young set the women’s mark of 18:31 in 2012.
The event takes place at St, Timothy’s School which is located at 4523 Six Forks Road in Raleigh and is managed by The Rotary Club of the Capital City.

Once again, the Spring Sprint will be part of the Second Empire Spring 2014 Grand Prix Series. Runners who participate in these races accumulate points and are awarded money and prizes at an awards banquet held at the Second Empire Restaurant at the conclusion of the Series.
The mile starts at 9 am, while the featured 5K starts at 9:30 am.
Entrants in the 5K have a choice of entering as a competitive or recreational runner. Competitive entrants will receive an official time, be eligible for awards, and will receive Grand Prix points. Recreational entrants will not receive official times, but can either time themselves or see their times on the digital clock at the finish line.
The entry fees are $25 for the 5K and $20 for the mile. The entry fee includes a long-sleeved dri-wick shirt guaranteed to all those entered by February 21, 2014. On race day, the both fees increase by $5..
In the 5K, the top three males overall, the top three females overall, the top three master finishers of each sex and the top three finishers in each of the following age groups will receive awards: 12-under, 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80-over. In the mile, the top ten finishers regardless of sex will receive awards.
There will be three opportunities for late entrants to register and for pre-registered entrants to pick up their packets – on Wednesday, February 26, from 5-7 pm at Fleet Feet Sports in Ridgewood Shopping Center; on Thursday, February 27, from 3-7 pm at St. Timothy’s School in the Administration Building; and on race day beginning at 7 am in the Cafeteria at St. Timothy’s School.
