Last year a field of 66 runners and walkers signed up for this event. Alberto Nunez (21:35) and Cecilia Reyes (24:44) took the overall titles. Matthew Calvelo (17:02) and Stephie Hall (20:47) hold course marks - both set in 2014.
The race is put on by the Ernest Simmons VFW Post 6722 in Lillington. The race starts and finishes at the Harnett County Veteran’s Park located outside the Courthouse. The street address is 301 West Cornelius Harnett Boulevard.
The USATF certified course will be a mixture of trails and asphalt and is described as “relatively flat.”

Race day registration and packet pickup opens at 7:30 am on race day, and the race starts at 9 am.
The entry fee is $25, increasing to $30 after October 24th up to and including race day. T-shirts are guaranteed to all those registered by October 24th. After that date, it will be “first-come, first served.”
Awards will be presented to the top three male finishers, to the top three female finishers, and to the top three finishers (both sexes) in each of the following age divisions: 9-under, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-over.
Proceeds from the race will support Harnett County Veterans Treatment Court and the North Carolina Cottage at the VFW National Children’s Home.
