Now in its 40th year, this event is the oldest continuous road race in Johnston County and possibly in North Carolina. Last year the event had over 70 entrants. Jacob Gonzalez took top honors winning the 5K in 16:02. Allison Camp was the top female after covering the downtown course in 20:29.
The event begins promptly at 8 am at the intersection of Webb and Waddell Streets. Both the Family 5K Fun Walk and the 5K run begin at the same time and are run on the same USAT&F-certified course. No official timing will take place for the Walk, but finishers will be able to see their finishing times on the finish line clock.
