In its debut in November of 2012, over 130 runners and walkers signed up for this event. Jeff Tomkinson was the only runner to break 20 minutes on the certified course as he won in 19:45. Lisa Book (24:22) took female honors. The race is put on by the Ernest Simmons VFW Post 6722 in Lillington and race starts and finishes at the Harnett County Veteran’s Park located outside the Courthouse.

The USATF certified course will be a mixture of trails and asphalt and is described as “relatively flat.”

Race day registration and packet pickup opens at 7:30 am on race day, and the race starts at 9 am. The entry fee is $20, increasing to $25 after October 25th up to and including race day. T-shirts are guaranteed to all those registered by October 25.

Awards will be presented to the top three male finishers, to the top three female finishers, and to the top three finishers (both sexes) in each of the following age divisions: 9-under, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-over. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Military Missions in Action in Fuquay-Varina and the and the VFM National Home for Children.
