One of the larger area races, this event regularly draws over 1,000 runners and walkers to the WakeMed Soccer Park for this cross-country event. Most of the participants are from Girls on the Run.
Last year Joshua Kmiec led the field to the finish line in 18:54. Katherine Baker won the women’s competition with a 21:03 effort. The course records are held by Jason Jabaut (15:12) and Adrianne So (18:33).
There are two types of entries in this event - competitive and recreational. Competitive entrants are issued a chip, receive an official time and are eligible for awards. Recreational entrants are not timed and are not eligible for awards. They can see their finish times on a digital clock at the finish line.
The entry fee for the competitive race is $25 prior to Nov 21, and $30 thereafter, up to and including race day. For the recreational entries, the fees are $20, and $25, respectively.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers overall, and to the top three in each of the following age groups: 12-under, 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-over.
