Last year over 1,200 runners and walkers finished this event with Michael McKee winning in 18:05. Genevieve Helfrich won the women’s competition in 21:52. Luis Vargas (15:01) and Alice Kassers (19:24) hold the course records, both set in 2018.

The 5K begins at 9 am while the mile starts at 9:20 am.
Participants in the 5K can register as either a Competitive (timed) entrant or a Recreational (non-timed entrant). Competitive entrants will be listed in the official results and be eligible for awards. However, all participants will be able to see their finishing times on a digital clock by the finish line.
The registration fees are $30 for the 5K/mile and $15 for the Kid's Dash.. One must be registered by September 12 to guarantee your size shirt. Registration for the event closes on Wednesday, October 11th, at noon. There is no race day registration.
Pre-registered entrants can pick up their packets the Autism Society of NC offices on Thursday, October 12, between 9 am and 1 pm OR on Friday, October, 13, from 9 am to 12 noon. Pre-registered entrants can also pick up their packets at Halifax Mall on race day beginning at 7:30 am.
In the 5K awards will be presented to the top three male finishers overall, to the top three female finishers overall, to the top three master finishers overall (both sexes),and to the top three finishers in each of the following age groups (both sexes): 12-under, 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80-over.
