LAST YEAR
Marco Evans of Cary set an event record winning the 2022 Run for Liberty in 16:33 – one second under the old mark. Alicia Rider won the women’s title with a 22:32 effort. Catherine Seaton holds the women’s event record of 19:15 which she set in 2017.
THE COURSE
The trail at Wake Med Soccer Park has a smooth running surface with grass and gravel and follows a partially shaded trail through a wooded area. A water station will be at the halfway point. The 1-Mile Fun Run starts at 8:00am and the 5k starts at 8:30am. This is a sanctioned USA Track & Field event with chip timing provided.

WHY WE RACE
All profits go directly to Amputee Coalition of America, a national non-profit organization. Amputee Coalition is the nation’s leading organization on limb loss. With the generous support of the public, they are helping amputees live well with limb loss, raising awareness about limb loss prevention and ensuring amputees have a voice in matters affecting their ability to live full, thriving lives.
REGISTRATION
Registrants in the 5K can register either as a competitive or recreational entry. Competitive entrants will receive an official time and be eligible for awards. Recreational entrants will not receive an official time, but they will be able to see their finishing times on a digital clock at the finish line
ENTRY FEES
All runners are welcome, amputees race free! 5k registration is $35 and mile entry fee is $20. T-shirts are included in registration fee. (T-shirt not guaranteed for registrations after 6/27). A late fee of $5 applies for any registrations after 6/27.

AWARDS
Medals and prizes will be awarded in the 5k to the top 3 males overall, top 3 females overall and top 3 amputees as well as to the top finishers, both male and female, in the following age categories: 11-under,12-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80-over.
RACE DAY REGISTRATION/PACKET PICKUP
Pre-registered entrants can pick up their packets and late entrants can register race day morning beginning at 7 am.
