Event Overview

COVID Update
Don't worry, the race is still happening! There are just a few precautions that should be followed. Race day registration, team competition registration and the kid’s fun run registration will take place inside Haywood Gym. The race requires everyone to wear a mask while you are inside the gym. The race highly encourages runners to wear a mask when you are unable to practice social distancing, specifically right before the race starts when you’ll be close to other runners. Runners do not have to wear a mask during the race. Please follow the current CDC guidelines - CDC Covid Guidelines. Lastly, stay home if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or have recently tested positive for it.

One of the oldest 5K’s in the Triangle where every female finisher receives a red rose, The North Carolina Roadrunners Club is proud to present the 41st Annual Run for the Roses 5K. This fun traditional Valentine's weekend race offers a fun-filled afternoon for the family to raise money to benefit Four Paws and a Wake Up-NC an organization which trains service dogs for Veterans and Team Red, White and Blue NC, an organization with the mission to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity.

In 2020, there were over 550 entries. Wade Miller took top honors in 17:07, while Erin Taylor (3rd overall) led the women in 18:25.

Wings of the City
Exciting news! This year runners will get to see the beautiful sculptures of world-renowned artist Jorge Marin as they run/walk the course.  https://dorotheadixpark.org/wings

Jogging Strollers
We are a jogging stroller friendly race and participants are welcome to run or walk with jogging strollers, we just ask that you start towards the back of the pack to allow the other runners a clear start.

Fundraising
We will donate a portion of the race proceeds to Four Paws and a Wake Up-NC and Team Red, White and Blue NC (in 2014 we donated $4000 to each charity) but you can also raise money that will go directly to the charities using our "fundraising" service. Once you have registered for the race you can create your own fundraising page.

$25 until midnight on January 31, 2022

If, for reasons out of our control (i.e. an ice storm or such), we are unable to hold the event on the scheduled day, the race will be cancelled and not rescheduled.
