The event was created by New Bethel Baptist Church to raise money for missionaries in the US and overseas. Last year, they more than doubled their fundraising goal! Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, or donated.

The event debuted in 2020, despite the year's challenges. Benjamin Kassel of Davidson completed the course in 19:42, finishing first place overall. Allison Dease of Oxford completed the course in 26:52, making her the top female!

Entrants can enter as competitive or recreational runners. Competitive entrants will receive an official time and will be eligible for awards. Recreational entrants will not receive official times but may time themselves or see their times on the digital clock at the finish line.

On race day preregistered entrants can pick up their packets and late registrants can sign up beginning at 8 am.  Race day registration will close at 8:45. The race begins at 9 am.

The entry fees are $20 up to and including September 19th, $25 from September 20th to October 1st, and $30 on race day.  The fee does not include a t-shirt, but one can order one if registered NLT September 19th for $10.

Awards will be presented to the first three male finishers overall, to the first three female finishers overall and to the top three finishers in each of the following age groups (both sexes): 11-under, 12-19, 20-29, 30-39,40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70-over.
