Overview and Awards

New this year is the exciting news that we have been selected by the Road Runners Club of America to host the North Carolina State Championship for the 5K and 1 Mile.  These races are open to anyone wishing to participate in them, but you must use that catagory on the Registration Form when entering.  Otherwise, use the regular fee and catagory for these races.

Both Championships will run within the regular 5K and 1 Mile and will not be stand-alone events. 

The 5K Championship / 5K Run /  8K Run all begin at 8:30 AM

Awards for the 5K Championship will be done as a separate event.  Awards for the 5K will be awarded as usual and will not include Championship runners.

Overall Top 3 Male and Female
Overall Top 3 Masters Male and Female

Top 2 in each of the following Age Divisions

Awards Ceremony will begin immediately following the 1 Mile Championship  If you cannot stay for the Awards, they will be available at the New Balance Store beginning Friday, November 29.  We do not mail awards.

Refund Policy

The News Balance 8K and 5K does not make refunds under any circumstances after October 31.  This includes the event being cancelled or shortened due to conditions beyond the control of the Race Committee (i.e., weather, nationsl or local emergency, unsafe running conditons, etc) or participant being unable to attend due to personal reasons or failure to show up at the designated Start time.

If any of these condions occur, the shirts will be availalbe at the New Balance store at the Renaissance Center on Friday, November 29 and Saturday, November 30 during normal store hours.
