This is one race which is happy to say "they have gone to the dogs." The featured 5K, which begins at 10 am, is followed by a 1-mile walk for participants and their dogs.
Over 70 runners and walkers registered for the event last year with Will Suit capturing the win in 21:09. Alex Duvall won the women’s title in 25:45. The course record of 16:58 is held by Michael Dwonoh set in 2013. Kim Cary holds the women’s course mark of 19:57 set in 2016.
The race starts and finishes at the Wake Forest College Birth Place located on 450 North Main Street in Wake Forest. Click here to download a course map.
Profits from the event will benefit the Paws for Life Animal Rescue (formerly known as the Franklin County Humane Society) in their goal to build an animal shelter where area pets and find safe refuge until they can be adopted to permanent homes.
The entry fee for the 5K is $25 ($30 on race day). The fees for 1-Mile Dog Walk are $20 and $25, respectively.
The entry fee includes a t-shirt, guaranteed to all those registered by September 14.
