Event Overview

Now in its 13th year, this race had over 260 participants finish the 5K last year.  Sam Montclair won the 5K race in a course record 16 minutes flat, while Jennifer Dipaolo was the top female with a 20:41 clocking.

Betty Geiger holds the women’s course mark of 18:25 set in 2011.

 The races all start and finish at the Trinity Baptist Church located at 4815 Six Forks Road.

The North Hills 5K is also the eleventh event in the Second Empire 2019 Grand Prix Series. Runners who participate in these races accumulate points and are awarded money and prizes at an awards banquet held at the Second Empire Restaurant at the conclusion of the Series.

Proceeds from the race will go to the support of the Back Pack buddy program through North Raleigh Ministries.  North Raleigh Ministries mission is to meet the needs of families and individuals with emergency situations who live in North Raleigh.

The morning begins with the 100-yard Dash for Kids beginning at 8:45 am. The 5K starts at 9 am, and the mile begins at 9:30 a.m.  BibTag timing will be available for the 5K. No official times will be taken in the other two races.

There also will be a Senior Stroll for people ages 60 and older which begins at 9 a.m.  This is a walking event on the Recreation Outreach Center's indoor track. There is no set distance. Participants can register the day of the race for $10, which includes a t-shirt.

The entry fee for the 5K is $25, increasing to $30 after August 31.  The fees for the mile and Kid’s Dash are $15 and $5, respectively, with no late fees. T-shirts are guaranteed to all those registered by September 6.  After that, it will be “as available.”

In the 5K, awards will be presented to the first three males overall, to the first three females overall, to the first three master finishers of each sex, and to the first three finishers in each of the following age groups: 12-under, 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69.70-74, 75-79, and 80-over.
