Overview

Held to benefit the His Daily Bread Community Soup Kitchen in Coats, this event promises a bowl of soup to all finishers.

Last year, over 250 runners and walkers signed up for this event. Brian Fowler led the pack in 17:08.  Jenny DiPaolo led all the women with a 18:59 effort breaking the previous women's event record by over a minute and a half..  Omar Wiggans holds the event record of 16;52, which he acheived in 2016.

The race is run on a USAT&F-certified course starting and finishing at Coats Senior Center – the home of the Soup Kitchen.  The Senior Center is located at 214 East Park Street in Coats.

Once again, the race will be the first race in the 2019 Second Empire Grand Prix.

Entrants have a choice of entering as a competitive or recreational runner. Competitive entrants will receive an official time, receive points in the Grand Prix Series and be eligible for awards. Recreational entrants will not receive official times, but can either time themselves or see their times on the digital clock at the finish line.

The entry fee for the 5K is $25 up to and including January 20.  After that date, the fee is $30 up to and including race day.  The entry fee includes a t-shirt, guaranteed to all those entered by January 20.  After that date shirts will be given out  “as available.”

Awards will be presented to the first three males overall, to the first three females overall and to the top three finishers in each of the following age groups: (both sexes) 12-under, 13-19, 20-24, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44,45=59, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-79 snd 80-over.
