Overview

The 40th Annual Cary Road Race is one of the area’s oldest events.  A new course is being planned in Downtown Cary for 2018 in addition to food trucks, live bands, local beer and more.  The longest event of the day will be a 5-Mile race replacing the 10K run in past years.  The race is managed by Town of Cary Parks, Recreational and Cultural Resources

In April of 2017, Seth Hutchinson won the 10K in 32:59 and Rita Dorry (39:42) was the overall winner in the women’s competition. Kaleb Keyserling holds the men’s course record (32:50), while Tara Wojciechowski (36:41) holds the women’s course record.

In the 5K Omer Abdulrahman won that race after covering the course in 16:31. Cara Endara was the top woman finisher in 18:49. Peter Ellis (15:57) and Brennan Liming (18:13) hold the course marks in the 5K.

Those records will stand as the event will shift to Downtown Cary, starting and finishing at the Downtown Park at the corner of Dry Avenue and Academy Street.
