In 2017 over 270 runners and walkers registered for this event which is held at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary. Aaron Hale took top honors in 17:26. Sixteen-year-old Lucille Ketterer won the women’s competition in 20:30. Ryan Kaat holds the course record for this event running 16:19 in 2011. Michelle Langan set the women’s standard of 17:39 in 2014.
The mile run begins at 8 am, and the 5K starts at 8:30 am. Both races are timed with the ChampionChip.
Once again the Run for Life 5K will be part of the 2018 Second Empire Grand Prix. Runners who participate in these races accumulate points and are awarded prizes at an awards banquet held at the Second Empire Restaurant at the conclusion of the Series.
