This inaugural event is being put on by the Christian Veterinary Missions Fellowship (CVMF) at NC State to raise funds for their organization.  Christian Veterinary Mission exists to share the love of Christ through veterinary medicine. Working in communities worldwide, CVM equips and encourages veterinary professionals and students to build relationships with others through the use of their veterinary knowledge and skills so that lives are transformed. We accomplish this by providing veterinary services for those who are unable to provide medical care for their animals.

 This organization at NC State’s College of Veterinary Medicine, currently serves three Native American communities via annual service trips: the Yup’ik in Alaska, the Cherokee in western North Carolina and the Navajo in Arizona. Typically, trips consist of small animal spays, neuters, and vaccination clinics. Veterinarians and veterinary students also spend time working on farm animal herds.

CVMF at NC State is very hopeful and prays that this event will aid in funding their annual mission trips as well as bring the community together in a fun and exciting way!

The double-loop course takes place entirely within the campus of the NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine located at 1060 William Moore Drive in Raleigh.

The 1.5 mile Dog Run will be the first event of the morning beginning at 8 am.  The featured 5K (no dogs, please) will start at 8:30 am.

No official times will be taken in the Dog Run, but everyone will be able to see their finishing times on a digital clock at the finish.

Registrants in the 5K can register either as a timed or untimed entry. Timed entrants will receive an official time and be eligible for awards. Untimed entrants will not receive an official time or be eligible for awards, but they will be able to see their finishing times on a digital clock at the finish line.

The entry fees for the 5K are $30 up to and including July 15^th, $35 from July 16^th to August 14, and $40 on race day.  T-shirts are guaranteed to all those registered by July 15^th.  After that it will be “as available.”

The entry fees for the Dog Run are $25 up to and including July 15^th, $30 from July 16^th to August 14, and $35 on race day. 

There is also a special entry fee for those wishing to participate in both the Dog Run and 5K.  Those fees are $35 up to and including July 15^th, $40 from July 16^th to August 14, and $50 on race day. 

Pre-registered runners can pick up their packets and late entrants can register on the campus on Friday, August 14 from 3-7 pm

on race day beginning at 7 am 

In the Dog Run, the top three finishers will receive a bandana.  In the 5K, awards will be given to the top three male finishers, to the top three female finishers and to the top two finishers in each of the following age groups (both sexes): 12 and under, 13-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-64 and 65 and over.

For those participating in the Dog Run, there are additional requirements as follows:

1.  The dog must be legally owned by the participant.

2.  The dog must be on a leash (6ft max) at all times.

3.   The owner needs to certify by signing the waiver that he/she have consulted with a veterinarian prior to registering for this event to ensure that the dog(s) is in proper physical and behavioral condition to compete in Race, the dog(s) is in good condition to run this Race,  is current on his/her rabies shot and is encouraged to be current on all their core vaccines. The owner is not aware of any physiological condition, such as heart, lung, etc. that preludes the dog(s) from entering the Race. The dog(s) has not been found to be in violation of any state or local law, including but not limited to NCGS §67or Raleigh City Code 12-3004 or 12-3021 through 12-3025 or any other state’s local or state law as it relates to animals, and does not carry any zoonotic diseases.
