Did you know that every year 900,000 people die in India from drinking unclean water? By joining us at our Carry the Water 5K, you will be contributing to funding clean water projects, ensuring that more Indians have access to clean drinking water. All proceeds from the race go toward clean water projects, and, by bringing a water container of your choice, you can help even more. Run or walk halfway, fill up your container, and carry it back to the finish line. Once there, empty your container into a barrell for corporate sponsorship to help us raise even more funding!
In its debut last year, the Carry the Water 5K drew over 100 runners and walkers. Theodore Combos finished first with a record time of 18:09, quickly followed by the fastest woman finisher, Ashley Best, with a time of 26:58.
The event will be held at Dorothea Dix Park (750 Picot Drive) in Raleigh and will start at 10:00 AM.
The entry fee for the race is $20 from April 1 to August 1, $25 from August 2 to September 1, $30 from September 2 to September 21, and $40 on race day. Kids under age 13 are free, and all runners 13 and older will receive a free T-shirt!
T-shirt sizes are guaranteed until September 1. After that date, it will be "as available."
Awards will be given to the top three male finishers, to the top three female finishers, and to the top finishers in each of the following age groups (both sexes): 17-under, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-over.
Preregistered runners can pick up their packets and late entries can register on Thursday, September 20, from 5-7 PM at Fleet Feet Sports (3532 Wade Avenue in Raleigh) or on race day at the race site beginning at 8:30 AM.
After the run, enjoy free lunch from one of our sponsors!
